All our ice barrel sessions are guided by Alan, our newly qualified contrast therapy practitioner. He will be there to support and advise you throughout your experience, ensuring you get the most out of each hot and cold cycle.

What should I bring with me for an ice barrel session?

We recommend bringing your swimwear, a towel (or two!), and warm, comfortable clothing to change into afterwards. You might also want to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. If you are using the lake to swim, you should also bring a brightly coloured swim cap and a tow float. All can be hired or purchased onsite.

Is the water in the ice barrels cold? How cold is it?

Yes, the water in our ice barrels is genuinely cold! The temperature will vary slightly depending on the ambient conditions, but we aim to maintain it at invigoratingly cold temperatures, typically between 2-6°C, to ensure you receive the full therapeutic benefits of cold water immersion.

Do I need to be experienced with cold water immersion to participate?

Not at all! Our guided sessions are perfect for both seasoned cold plungers and complete beginners. Alan will be there to ease you into the experience, offering tips and ensuring you feel comfortable and safe throughout. You can go at your own pace. We do recommend that if you have any underlying health conditions, you speak to your doctor beforehand.
